Burlesque University had meek beginnings as it started as a one-hour general class entitled Burly Gurly 101 to teach ladies in Washington, DC about burlesque, its past, revival and the art of the tease.  From those classes, there was such a demand that the ladies of these classes grew into DC’s very first (and only) burlesque troupe, the DC Gurly Show.

Demand grew even more and between bachelorette parties, bachelor parties and excited new neophytes, Kitty developed a series of classes to really focus on the art of the tease as well as to offer drop-in events for a fun afternoon or evening about town.  All of the classes focus on body-positive, sex-positive, teachings and all classes are open to every person regardless of gender, race, size, sexual orientation, religion, etc. What we’re saying folks is that if you want to learn the art of the tease – Burlesque University is where you want to be!  And maybe you can even begin to jumpstart your new burlesque career!

The goal here at Burlesque University is not only to make a positive difference in the lives of others, but also to do so we are looking to expand and add new professors to the faculty so they, too, can share their talents and assets with you…so keep abreast of happenings here at Burlesque University!
